Clonbrusk Resource Centre

Client: HSE Estates and Centre Management

A much needed boost to health services in Athlone was achieved with the opening of the Clonbrusk Resource Centre. This very modern attractive facility was designed by Moloney O’Beirne Architects. The building houses a day resource centre operated by the Irish Wheelchair Association, as well as a multi-disciplinary team for children with disabilities and offices for a number of voluntary organisations. These include the Multiple Sclerosis of Ireland, the Irish Wheelchair Association and the National Council for the Blind of Ireland.

When meeting with HSE personnel to discuss signage ‘accessibility for all’ was a key consideration and also the Irish language requirement.

After careful consideration the system of choice recommended and commissioned was the MG Classic system. Panel colours Anthracite Grey with Braille and tactile in White for colour contrast, to meet the needs of visually impaired visitors

“The signage internally from an aesthetic point of view looks great, and from a service users point of view it is much easier to read due to the better contrast in colours. Thank you for your advice, guidance and support throughout this project”
